I received my latest copy of First Things this week and I was greatly saddened to learn of the passing of its founder and editor Father Richard John Neuhaus. Father Neuhaus was a man who made major shifts and grew with the times.
Richard Neuhaus, the son of a Lutheran Church Missouri Synod pastor, first entered Christian ministry as a Lutheran Pastor but in 1990 he converted to the Roman Catholic Church and was ordained a priest in 1991.
On theological issues, I had to disagree with Father Neuhaus' views from time to time, but I have great respect for him as a Christian, and intellectual, and a teacher. Father Neuhaus was a man willing to take a stand for what he believed to be the right thing and make that stand in a godly way.
If you are interested in thinking seriously about the Christian faith and the world around us, you need to subscribe to the periodical he started, First Things, it is one of the best journals published in this country today.
I hope you will follow this link (EPPC) and read more about this great man of God.
Coram Deo,
Kenith

isn't "First Things" a little neo-connish on foreign policy?
It is mostly a religious journal and while has more Roman Catholic writers than Protestant in gives a wide swath of views.
I've seen Peter Leithart articles in it a few times, and he is a guy I agree with on almost everything.

I already get too many mags but I'll start checking out the website on a regular basis.
I had to cut to cut out most mags. I get First Things and I am thinking sbout re-subscribing to Chronicles, which is very good Libertarian/paleocon magazine.

I used to pick up an occasional copy of "Chronicles" at Booksamillion or Barnes and Noble but haven't been able to find it lately.
he will be a lost. Of course with Sulles dyinjg and now Nehaus two of the most influential people on bringing protestants and Catholics toghtehr have passed. Colsen was tight when he said what a horrible double loss
I loved First Things and Father's monthly column was always a gem. I hope First Things can go forward without his presence
His work toward the Christian voice in the Public square was important.
Amen James.
